About Gustavo Segredo
Gustavo 'Gus' Segredo quickly understood the importance of composition in photography, but he learned that that was only the beginning. His fondest memories were of the many hours he spent during his high school years in the darkroom, developing and crafting the second half of the creative art known as photography. Today's workspace has been transformed from the analog to the digital, from the darkroom's near alchemist's use of chemicals and formulas, to that of computing power and software. Videography, online editing, and the inclusion of drones have only expanded the tool chest. Through it all, the creative spirit has only been enhanced powerfully by this evolution.
About the Portfolio
In the process of gathering these images, I have discovered that all of them share one quality. Each photograph takes me back to the emotion of nostalgia. In some, the nostalgia is:

for the grace and the beauty of things that have withstood the passage of time, especially in Havana.

in some, it takes me back to the stillness one experiences in your soul when snow is falling

in others, it reminds me of how the ocean has always had both, a calming effect, and a sense of mystery on us
